Adult Education - Degree Completion
World Harvest Bible College wants to help adults meet their goals of preparing for ministry and earning a college degree. The requirements in this degree are essentially the same as our on-campus degree in Pastoral Leadership if students transferred in their general education requirements (see the “a” under the Degree Completion section below). Our degree completion program in Pastoral Leadership allows students to accomplish this without leaving their job. In fact, this program is designed for working adults who carry a number of responsibilities. The college provides access to higher education through accelerated classes which apply to real ministry. The classes are designed so that students can focus on one subject at a time. Depending on entry-level status, the program can be completed in 18-22 months. Because of the low tuition, students do not qualify for discounts or WHBC scholarships (outside scholarships are welcomed). Upon acceptance into the program, students are assigned to a cohort—a group of around 20-25 working adults who are also continuing their education. Because of the nature of a degree completion program it is necessary to take all core courses offered. Previous credit for these courses will not be accepted. Cohorts are organized in order to facilitate study groups that provide a collaborative, team-oriented approach to learning. Whether it is a class project, instruction on individual exercises, or a group presentation, the cohort and professors are here to offer support during the students' college experience.
The accelerated nature of the degree completion program asks that members commit to faithful attendance, and approximately twelve or more hours per week of studying, reading, writing, and research. There may be a number of smaller assignments or a larger research paper depending on the nature of the class. Some assignments may be done online or presented in class. Cohorts normally have limited lectures and more interactive learning on the part of the class members. In class, students will discuss reading assignments, react to articles, and apply principles or theories to their lives and ministries.
This degree program is designed for individuals over 27 years of age with significant work/and or ministry experience and who have completed 24 hours of previous college credit toward a degree. It is structured according to the standards of the Council for Adult Experiential Learning (CAEL). Contact us by email or phone (614) 837-4088, ext. 155.
